What will the course cover?

"They develop confidence, communication and social skills, Independent Living Skills, encouraging students to behave appropriately in a class, interact with others, make choices, take turns and express themselves in a variety of ways. This course will introduce students to movement/mime/dance/creativity; They will be encourages to develop relationships with each other and the tutor. Students will develop skills in making choices e.g. which music to play, listening and taking turns. Learners will also develop skills in relaxation. "

Who is the course for?

The Pre-entry level courses are non-accredited and suitable for inexperienced and pre-entry level learners with learning difficulties and disabilities.

What skills, knowledge or experience do I need to start this course?

No previous experience necessary

What should I be able to do by the end of the course?

" By the end of the course you should be able to express yourself through a variety of textures and techniques. Perform movements to music. Communicate with others, take turns, make choices, listen and become part of a group. Make progress according to your own specific goals. "

How is the course organised?

Group and one-to-one tuition

What extra study or practice is expected outside of the class?

Learners may like to practice the skills they learnt in class at home.

How will my progress be assessed?

An Individual learning plan will be created at the start of the course outlining your aims. Your progress will be regularily recorded using written, verbal and photographic evidence and you will be given verbal feedback as you develop your skills.

What can I expect to go on to after this course?

Continue at Pre-entry or progress on to Personal Development, Entry to or other higher level classes. Students may progress from this class to Amici Dance Dynamics 3. There are opportunities to attend Amici Dance Theatre Company open workshops and other events and suitable students may progress to the company itself

What support is available?

A Learning support assistant is present in the class and other Additional support can be provided for learners with additional needs if required. Advice on support and other courses is available.
