What will the course cover?
Using a small 'beach' type ball infused with aromatherapy oils corresponding to its colour, you will learn how to gently mobilise, revitalilse and rejuvenate your energy, (Chi), by stimulating the central nervous system and inner organs. Incorporating moves from various disciplines: Tai Chi, Yoga, Pilates and Alexander Technique, the method has been devised to help tone and balance your mind body and spirit.
Who is the course for?
Anyone interested in a holistic apporach to exercise as the Chi Ball method can help you to tone and balance your mind, body and spirit. This class takes place on chairs so you do not need to be able to get down onto the floor.
What skills, knowledge or experience do I need to start this course?
None.
What should I be able to do by the end of the course?
Have developed a better understanding and feel for how this form of exercise can enable you to feel more rejuvenated, mobile and stronger in body and mind.
How is the course organised?
one hour per week
What extra study or practice is expected outside of the class?
None. Your tutor may advise on home exercise programmes.
How will my progress be assessed?
You will copmplete and health questionnaire at your first class. You will also be encouraged to self assess through keeping a journal.
What can I expect to go on to after this course?
Progression to the Intermediate level on advice from the tutor
Are there any other costs and what do I need to bring?
Classes are subject to the normal Agewell enrolment fees. Please wear loose, comfortable clothing.
What support is available?
Help with literacy and numeracy is available through the basic education programme and the Esol programme offers help for speakers of other languages. Additional support can be provided for students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities. Open learning is available at Macbeth.
