What will the course cover?

This open access day is aimed at giving our upholstery students the opportunity to complete or continue projects started over the course of the term. You will get support from the tutor during the day.

Who is the course for?

Those who have completed a term with us and would benefit from extra time to continue or complete projects.

What skills, knowledge or experience do I need to start this course?

Sufficient confidence to complete your project with some technical support only.

What should I be able to do by the end of the course?

Continue or have completed your project that you began during the term.

How is the course organised?

Practical workshop. Question and answer sessions.

What extra study or practice is expected outside of the class?

None at this stage just have materials ready to make the most of the session.

How will my progress be assessed?

You should record your own progress in your learning journals.

What can I expect to go on to after this course?

Higher level upholstery classes to develop your skills further.

Are there any other costs and what do I need to bring?

You will need to bring your own piece of furniture and pay for all the materials used. Some tools are provided for use in class. Your own top fabric and trimmings. A notepad and pen. A camera. Stout shoes.

What support is available?

Help with literacy and numeracy is available through the basic education programmed and the ESOL programme offers help for speakers of other languages. Additional support can be provided for students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities. Details are available in the Guide or from teaching or Reception staff.
