What will the course cover?

Designing a finished piece, selecting and applying images to objects. Considering colour, shape and form,

Who is the course for?

Anyone with an interest in arts and crafts and would like to learn how to decorate jars, wood, furniture etc to make personal presents and give old things new life.

What skills, knowledge or experience do I need to start this course?

None, just enthusiasm!

What should I be able to do by the end of the course?

Cover a variety of items with well considered decoration.

How is the course organised?

Practical demonstrations, discussion and one-to-one support to complete items decorated with decoupage.

What extra study or practice is expected outside of the class?

Collecting images to use to decorate your items and researching ideas.

How will my progress be assessed?

Progress is assessed through discussing the work individually and in groups and recorded in your Individual Learning Plan and Learning Journal, sketchbook or folder.

What can I expect to go on to after this course?

Other arts and craft courses to broaden your skill set.

Are there any other costs and what do I need to bring?

Wear an apron or work clothing plus no open toed shoes. Bring items to decorate e.g. a small box, a bottle or a tray. Your tutor will also advise on the first lesson.

What support is available?

Help with literacy or numeracy is available through the basic education programme and the ESOL programme offers help for speakers of other languages. Additional support can be provided for students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities
