This course will give you the ability to create beautiful domestic floral arrangements. Your tutor will guide you through arranging and presenting seasonal flowers, colour and design. Each week the tutor will demonstrate a technique and you will create your own version in the class. You will be looking at traditional and modern design approaches.
The course is for anyone who would like to learn the essentials of floristry.
No previous experience necessary for this course
Select your own flowers and foliage with confidence. Apply Health and Safety principles as related to cut flowers and foliage. Make attractive arrangements in both modern and traditional styles. Wire flowers to create a corsage or buttonhole. Spiral stems to create a hand tied bouquet. Correctly preserve and care for flowers. Use scale and proportion to create arrangements. Create arrangements using fresh flowers. Apply gift wrapping. Evaluate projects undertaken.

Purchasing your own flowers and foliage. Visits to florists.
There will be individual feedback from the tutor and between yourself and the tutor and recorded in your individual learning plan and learning journal.
Other non-accredited floristry classes or accredited floristry courses. Going into business for yourself or obtaining work in a shop.
Small tool box to include: Floristry scissors, knife, wire, tape, containers and oasis. Advice will be given by the tutor at the first class. Flowers and Foliage. Note pad and pen.
Help with literacy or numeracy is available through the basic education programme and the ESOL programme offers help for speakers of other languages. Additional support can be provided for students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities.
