Knowledge related to Maths in the above mentioned level

Who is the course for?

This course is suitable for parents / carers and their children (from nursery to Year 6)

What skills, knowledge or experience do I need to start this course?

No formal skills or knowledge is required to do this course.

What should I be able to do by the end of the course?

Parents/carers should be able to demonstrate to their children how to set up the right environment in order to carry out the homework task appropriately. Parents/carers should be able to identify child’s priorities or needs (Maths) and list specific cases (timetables…). Children should be able to attain work harmoniously and cooperatively within a group, taking turns and respecting others, appreciating the value of sharing knowledge. Children should be able to relate to parents/carers respectfully and to recognise their knowledge and wisdom

How is the course organised?

The course run for 2 hours per week over 10 weeks. A combination of one to one teaching and group work. Activities include games, maths exercises and problems

What extra study or practice is expected outside of the class?

Learners are expected to complete their homework and revise the lessons

How will my progress be assessed?

Classroom assessment task with tutors Q&A and tests marked by tutors in every session.

What can I expect to go on to after this course?

A higher level HW club.

Are there any other costs and what do I need to bring?

The HW clubs are free.

What support is available?

Help with literacy and numeracy is available through the basic education programme and the ESOL programme offers help for speakers of other languages. Additional support can be provided for students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities. Details are available in the Learner handbook, from teaching staff or from the reception
