What will the course cover?

This course offers three transformative approaches which include meditation, mindfulness and looking at a profound work of art. Each of these will be looked at and practiced separately, with plenty of discussion so that you are clear when and how to use each one and why it can be helpful. We need meditation to withdraw and rest our senses from the world, but we also need to be able to then know how to re-engage with the world through the senses. Neuroscientists have proved if you know how to really look at art mindfully and with the imagination, it has incredibly powerful and long-lasting healing, transformative effects on the mind and body - even more than yoga. It can enhance your memory, concentration, increase creativity, reduce stress, and helps you shift perceptions and make deeper connections in your life.

Who is the course for?

Anyone with an interest in art, mindfulness, meditation.

What skills, knowledge or experience do I need to start this course?

None, just an open and intriguing mind.

What should I be able to do by the end of the course?

Participants should be able to know one simple meditation practice, one mindfulness practice and a work of art they like and can look at in a non critical way.

How is the course organised?

This is a five-week course which will simplify the ways in which meditation, mindfulness and looking at art can be beneficial to you and others.

What extra study or practice is expected outside of the class?

Optional to keep a journal of thoughts and reflections and finding a work of art that is meaningful to you.

How will my progress be assessed?

Each week there will be a recap on the previous week and any issues or questions will be shared either with the group or with tutor.

What can I expect to go on to after this course?

You may want to do longer courses in meditation, mindfulness or how to look at art beyond just analysing it.
