What will the course cover?

Mindfulness enables participants to study how to have control over their own responses to life events and to develop new perspectives

Who is the course for?

Anyone who wants to develop an understanding of the key skills of mindfulness

What skills, knowledge or experience do I need to start this course?

No prior knowledge required

What should I be able to do by the end of the course?

Participants will develop the skills to • Feel more connected to themselves and others • To develop new perspectives on life events, see the bigger picture and get a more balanced view • Increase their repertoire to manage difficulties and make choices • Learn about patterns and habits • Focus on being kind to themselves • Change their thought processes to come up with more creative responses

How is the course organised?

The course is informative, experiential and enjoyable and participants will be involved in a range of activities to help them develop and build on their skills

What extra study or practice is expected outside of the class?

No extra study is required but there will be a list of relevant texts for those who want to continue their learning

How will my progress be assessed?

There will be a brief self-assessment exercise at the beginning and end of the course

What can I expect to go on to after this course?

Participants may want to continue on to study other related courses such as emotional intelligence or Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

The college provides a range of study support depending on need and the tutor will also provide support during the class where this is possible and as much of the course learning is in group work students are encouraged to share the skills they are learning and to help each other
