What will the course cover?

A seminar-style one-day Saturday programme about writing & publishing, with several different contributors

Who is the course for?

For all creative writers who would like to explore different ways of publishing their writing

What skills, knowledge or experience do I need to start this course?

None, apart from some writing experience

What should I be able to do by the end of the course?

*be able to identify publishing markets, contexts and methods that suit your work *make connections with outlets, individuals, publications and organisations that will help enable your work to be published *make connections with other writers in west London, and beyond

How is the course organised?

The day is organised into a series of talks and presentations from several different contributors. Themes include: agents and publishing; publishing fiction and poetry; journals and publishing; researching publishing markets; self-publishing and chapbooks; writing organisations

What extra study or practice is expected outside of the class?

Students can read from the booklist provided to extend their knowledge and practice following the session, and follow-up connections and contacts for publishing where appropriate

How will my progress be assessed?

Q&A plenary sessions

What can I expect to go on to after this course?

Students can take further creative writing programmes: more general programmes or more specialist ones running during the daytime, early evening and on Saturdays; students can also begin to publish writing independently

Are there any other costs and what do I need to bring?

None, but please bring a notebook and pen; students may wish to purchase books from the reading list
