What will the course cover?

In this course we will go on an exciting journey through time tracing back the origin and history of Bier & Wurst from its early beginnings through the centuries. We will discover and analyse their processes, ingredients, cultural roles in German society past and present, learning about various types and regional varieties, A spotlight on the Reinhaltsgebot and recent research about its origins and impact.will provide new insights. We will also look into the current developments of Bier & Wurst in Germany in relation to other countries.

Who is the course for?

This course is for those who wish to learn more about this famous German staple food, its origins, history and current developments.

What skills, knowledge or experience do I need to start this course?

This course is a general overview and no previous knowledge, experience or skills are required.

What should I be able to do by the end of the course?

- have a working knowledge of the history of Bier & Wurst and their role in German culture past and present - develop a better understanding of Bier & Wurst as (nostalgic ?) German cultural heritage - gain insights into current trends and developments in German beer brewery and meat industry nationally as well as in international comparison - enjoy your Bier & Wurst from a new more insightful perspective

The course is organised in an interactive seminar format with tutor presentations, visual illustrations, Q&A and invitation for open group discussion.
