What will the course cover?

Greek cuisine has a long history and is known for its wide range of culinary tradition, from tender grilled meats and zesty salads, to fresh fish and syrupy pastries. This workshop will introduce the Mediterranean cuisine, its principles and most common ingredients alongside an introduction and a practical demonstration of a classic Greek dish. And maybe there will even be some Ouzo!

Who is the course for?

Adult students who are interested in Greek cuisine!

What skills, knowledge or experience do I need to start this course?

No prior skills, knowledge or experience are needed. The course will be delivered in English.

What should I be able to do by the end of the course?

The students will gain an understanding of the Greek cuisine and culture and will be able to make the demonstrated dish.

How is the course organised?

This workshop will introduce the Mediterranean cuisine, its principles and most common ingredients alongside an introduction and a practical demonstration of a classic – easy to make at home- Greek dish.

What extra study or practice is expected outside of the class?

No extra study or practice outside of the class is expected.

How will my progress be assessed?

By the student’s contribution in class.

What can I expect to go on to after this course?

Students might like to extend their understanding of Greek culture, by attending different daily workshops in an area of their particular interest: Greek mythology, folk dance or a detailed travel guide prior to their trip to Greece! Students might choose to attend a short course in Greek culture: ‘Beauty in Ancient Greece’, which will discuss the ideals of beauty and craftsmanship and ‘Temples in Ancient Greece: Acropolis of Athens’, which will examine the different phases and the meaning of the temples, buildings and altars in the Acropolis Hill.

Are there any other costs and what do I need to bring?

No other costs are expected. A notepad and pen is suggested for the students who would like to take notes.
