What will the course cover?

Faremo delle passeggiate per scoprire l’influenza che la comunitá italiana ha avuto, e continua ad avere, nella cittá di Londra. Scopriremo la storia italiana e degli italiani attraverso la scoperta di angoli della nostra cittá, e siti di particolare interesse.

Who is the course for?

The one day course is suitable for students who have studied Italian for at least 2 years, or who have done at least 60 hours of Italian studies.

What skills, knowledge or experience do I need to start this course?

Students who wish to enrol should have a sufficient knowledge of the Italian language, and be able to understand the speaking skill at level B1/B2.

What should I be able to do by the end of the course?

You will be able to discover areas of London which have been influenced by Italy and/or Italians, and gain a better understanding of the migration history of Italian people in the city of London.

How is the course organised?

The day will start at the Macbeth Centre at 10am, we will either walk to the starting point (see map), or catch a bus together. We will walk until there is a planned break (30 minutes), when we will have a coffee, or a snack, then continue with the scheduled journey.

What extra study or practice is expected outside of the class?

You will be expected to review handouts given to you on the day, and any notes you might want to take, in preparation for a short assessment task.

How will my progress be assessed?

There will be a comprehension test between walks, which students will be expected to complete and submit via email, or by hand at reception at the Macbeth Centre.

What can I expect to go on to after this course?

You will be able to join the other planned walks.

What support is available?

Help with literacy or numeracy is available through the basic education programme and the ESOL programme offers help for speakers of other languages. Additional support can be provided for students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities. Details are available from the guide and from teaching or reception staff.
