What will the course cover?

Further study of grammar and functional skills with the main emphasis on productive skills (speaking and writing).

Who is the course for?

For anyone who has done at least 1 year of Japanese or its equivalent (60 hours of classroom instructions).

What skills, knowledge or experience do I need to start this course?

You should already be able to read and write both Hiragana and Katakana as well as being able to read about 100 of the most common Kanji.

What should I be able to do by the end of the course?

Be ready to cope with most common situations encountered on a trip to Japan.

How is the course organised?

11 weekly sessions each term. Each 2-hour session will have a mixture of short grammar presenations, speaking activtivies, writing practice etc.

What extra study or practice is expected outside of the class?

About 1/2 hours each week.

How will my progress be assessed?

By the tutor in class and through regular assessments.

What can I expect to go on to after this course?

Tutor will advise.
