We will revise previously learned topics and numbers. You will work more on Russian verbs and tenses. The topics will be introduced: the restaurant; shopping; phrases with the question word when?/ at what time?; theatre; house and home
Students who have a knowledge of the Cyrillic script, can read and recognize handwritten letters, know how to make simple statements and interrogative sentences, know their basic vocabulary for the topics covered in Russian Beginners Stage 1. This is not for total beginners, who do not know the Russian alphabet!
You need to understand and say: greetings, personal information: name, family name, nationality, age, where you live, work; numbers to at least 100;members of the family, buildings in the town, ask and give directions; be able to ask questions: where, how much, who is it, where is it; know a few expressions for likes and dislikes and a few Russian verbs: to do, to work, to live, to love, to have and the types of conjugation. Very basic notions of grammar.
Express yourself clearly on all the topics covered in Russian level 1.1 and: • Know names of the foods and be able to order / pay the bill • Ask for items in shops and at the market • Know names of shops and enquire about opening / closing times • Understand different types of tickets and be able to order tickets to the theatre Be able to enquire about starting and finishing times • Be able to tell the time in various ways and understand the programme of events or TV programme and know the names of programmes and channels. • Name the rooms in the house and describe where they are situated. • Express likes and dislikes. • Use the three tenses of Russian verbs to good effect and describe events in the past, present and future. • Will understand the difference between perfective and imperfective verbs. • Will be introduced to verbs of motion. • Will be introduced to adjectives.
"We use the course book and the workbook, handouts; audio and videotapes, 'realia' ( eg. real tickets, souvenirs, menus etc.) You will be encouraged to speak as much as possible in class, to work in small groups or in pairs. All four linguistic skills will be introduced as integrated parts. "
Reviewing and learning by heart what has been done in the class. Do the exercises in the workbook, do set homework. For best results students have to try to invest about 15 minutes daily in to learning their new vocabulary and reading practice.
You will be encouraged to assess your own progress with help from your teacher, who will monitor your achievements by question and answer, some written work or more formal achievement tests. Your tutor will keep in class Course File up to date, with your Record of Progress as part of it. You will need to keep portfolio of your work for monitoring your achievements.

The course book and the workbook: Ruslan book 1 Ring binder. Vocabulary book. Grammar book ( any of students' choice. ( Will be advised by the teacher.)
Help with literacy or numeracy is available through the basic education programme and the ESOL programme offers help for speakers of other languages.
