Say what were the main events of your life Talk about your dreams and ambitions Giving instructions and commands Talk about what you like to wear Ask for what you want in a clothes shop Talk about colours, shapes, sizes and materials Buy a souvenir in a market and try to get a bargain Making plans and suggestions Say what you have or haven’t done Describe what has happened Recall childhood memories Talk on the phone Make arrangements to go out Talk about plans and intentions
This course needs your active participation - you have to be prepared to talk as much as you can!! You'll be encouraged to speak as much as possible in class, to work in small groups and pairs, to work each lesson on all 4 skills: listening and understanding, speaking, reading and writing. We aim above all to give you confidence, to have fun - but to work hard as well!
You'll always have work to review and practise from the previous lesson; you'll have sentences and words to learn by heart; you'll have homework set by the tutor. We recommend that you spend around 15 minutes a day on some kind of language practice - listening to a tape, watching a video, repeating working with a CD ROM, etc etc. You will need to organise and keep up to date your course file for assessment purposes, as well as for you and your tutor to keep a record of your progress (your ILP).
Every lesson you are given different tasks so that progress can be assessed. Record of your work will be kept in your Individual Learning Plan to help record the steps taken towards achieving your goals.
