In eleven half hour sessions of expert one to one tuition you will learn to play easy pieces and ensembles of different styles. Tuition incorporates basic music theory, harmony and simple improvisation, music notation, sight reading and playing by ear. You will also learn correct technique, posture and hand position. You need a piano or keyboard at home so you can practise daily.
All aspiring piano and keyboard players from complete beginners to more competent players.
No prior skills are required, just enthusiasm and realistic expectations!
Depending on entry level: Demonstrate the ability to read music, suitable for your level, with both hands. Play a suitable piece for performance. Learn to and demostrate the ability to play by ear, (if you wish to). Understand and demonstrate the dynamics for interpreting a piece of music. Understand and be able to explain/demonstrate relevant aspects of music theory.
11 x 0.5hr sessions
Your targets will be agreed with the tutor and progress recorded in the course file and your log book.
Continue with lessons for as long as you wish or want to move on.
Your tutor will advise you regarding music books but you will not need anything at the outset except a piano or keyboard to practise on.
