What will the course cover?

An introduction to the basic principles of setting up and using an iPad.

Who is the course for?

Beginners who want to know what to use an iPad for and make a start on how to use an iPad.

What skills, knowledge or experience do I need to start this course?

No previous knowledge required, but basic computer skills (e.g. turning the computer on; using / browsing the internet etc) are advisable.

What should I be able to do by the end of the course?

You should have a better idea of the range of tasks that can be performed on an iPad, the range of apps available and basic usage and operation.

How is the course organised?

This course is a five-session introductory ‘taster’, with each session lasting 1½ hours. The tutor gives demonstrations and explanations to the entire class, as well as supporting individual learners to complete tasks and exercises. iPads are provided to all learners for use in class during the session.

What extra study or practice is expected outside of the class?

Ideally, learners should make some time to practice the techniques demonstrated.

How will my progress be assessed?

Through self and tutor assessment

What can I expect to go on to after this course?

Continue to improve iPad skills independently, or join a longer, more in-depth iPad course.

Are there any other costs and what do I need to bring?

No other costs over and above the Agewell enrolment. Please bring pen and paper to make notes.

What support is available?

Help with literacy and numeracy is available through the basic education programme and the ESOl programme offers help for speakers of other languages. Additional support can be provided for students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities. Details are available from the course guide and from teaching or reception staff
