What will the course cover?

You will have the opportunity to learn about map reading, leading and designing your own walks and more about the countryside in general.

Who is the course for?

Run by volunteers, this level is suitable for regular walkers or as a progression from the intermediate level. You will walk 5-7 miles ( depending on the terrain), incorporating hills, stiles and rough ground.

What skills, knowledge or experience do I need to start this course?

You should be a proficient walker for this ramble

What should I be able to do by the end of the course?

Have developed your map reading skills if you wish to.

How is the course organised?

The first week of each term will be classroom based with a local walk. Thereafter, meet at the MAcbeth Centre for 10am where you will be driven to the walk site.

What extra study or practice is expected outside of the class?

None but you may wish to practise your map reading skills.

How will my progress be assessed?

No formal assessment

What can I expect to go on to after this course?

Arrange your own walks, join other walking groups.

Are there any other costs and what do I need to bring?

Borough residents pay a £20.00 registration fee and out-of-borough will pay £30.00. All will pay a £3.50 fee towards the transport costs each time you attend. Please wear appropriate clothing and walking boots/shoes. Bring a packed lunch and plenty of water.
