What will the course cover?

You will have the opportunity to learn about map reading, leading and designing your own walks and more about the countryside in general.

Who is the course for?

Run by volunteers, this level is suitable for regular walkers or as a progression from the intermediate level. You will walk 5-7 miles ( depending on the terrain), incorporating hills, stiles and rough ground.

What skills, knowledge or experience do I need to start this course?

None but you may wish to practise your map reading skills.

What should I be able to do by the end of the course?

Arrange your own walks, join other walking groups.

How is the course organised?

The first week of the autumn term will be classroom based with a local walk. Thereafter, meet at the MAcbeth Centre for 10am where you will be driven to the walk site.

What extra study or practice is expected outside of the class?

None for this session

No formal assessment

What can I expect to go on to after this course?

Lead your own walks, join the ramblers association

Are there any other costs and what do I need to bring?

You will pay a registration fee of either £28.00, borough residents, or £35.00 out-of-borough plus £5 each time you come to cover the transport costs. Ensure that you are appropriately dressed with walking boots/shoes. Walking poles should be used as well. Please bring a packed lunch and plenty of water to drink.
