What will the course cover?

This short course is designed to give you a series of simple strengthening and stretching exercises to gain and maintain a strong and flexible back. You will also learn more about the relationship between the muscles of the back, buttocks and abdomen and why they are important for overall back health

Who is the course for?

Anyone who has suffered back pain and/or sciatica or who wishes to prevent the onset of back problems in the future

What skills, knowledge or experience do I need to start this course?

There are no pre-requirements for this course

What should I be able to do by the end of the course?

Name the major muscles involved in maintaining good back health

How is the course organised?

For 1 hour once a week to include 10 minutes of warming up exercises, 25 minutes of specific back health exercises/education 10 minutes of stretch/relaxation

What extra study or practice is expected outside of the class?

Your general strength and flexibility will improve through home practice. Your tutor may advise individuals about specific exercises

How will my progress be assessed?

Each learner is required to self assess alongside the tutor assessment, on the record of achievement.

What can I expect to go on to after this course?

The course should inspire you to take on a regular exercise, Yoga or Pilates class
