As an introduction, we will look at how the body and movement is a powerful medium in aiding one's inner awareness of oneself, and the role movement/dance has played throughout the different stages of the evolution of the human race.
This course is for anyone who enjoys moving to music, but who is perhaps self conscious about doing this with others. It is also for those who would like to explore movement on a deeper level, as a meditation. This course is a gentle psychotherapeutic journey through movement, accompanied by relaxing classical/multi cultural inspiring music.
No experience or skills are needed, just a willingness to be oneself and participate.
The rediscovering of our lost potential to express ourselves through movement can be a deep, meaningful and exhilarating experience. More and more psychotherapists are acknowledging the prime importance of movement and body awareness to psychological and emotional health. A comprehensive handout will be given to learners as a background to getting the most out of the course, covering the above points in detail.
