An aerobic workout including mat-based or chair work for specific muscle toning exercises. Advice about nutrition and diet is also available.
Anyone who wants to join a keep fit programme that includes and aerobic workout, muscle strengthening and stretch/relaxation. You should be reasonably mobile. If in doubt, please come in and speak to the tutor
None required. You do not need to be able to get down onto the floor as chair-based alternative exercise will be given.
Have developed a greater understanding of the benefits of exercise for maintaining a healthier lifestyle. Developed a good knowledge of which exercises benefit you as an individual and be able to practice safely at home.
The first part of the class is set aside for topics relating to healthier lifestyles such as nutrition, home exercising or a focus on particular medical conditions. Learners can be weighed if they are taking the class as part of a weight loss programme.
None, but the tutor will advise on home exercise.
Each learner will complete a health questionnaire and an initial assessment from which individual targets/challenges will be set. The tutor will assess individuals gainst these and class targets. learners are also expected to reflect on their progress and make comments verablly or in writing as directed by the tutor.
Progress within the same class or join another Agewell class on advice from your tutor
Normal Agewell fees apply. Please wear loose comfortable clothing and appropritate and supportive soft-soled shoes. A bottle of water is advisable to avoid dehydration.
Help with literacy or numeracy is available through the basic education programme and the ESOL programme offers help for speakers of other languages.
