This course introduces students to Zhan Zhuang (Standing like a tree), the basis of a Chi Kung system called Da Cheng Chuan.
For people with prior experience or none.
None as long as you are generally fit. If in doubt ask the tutor.
Students completing the course will be able to practice with greater relaxation independently and purposefully while standing or seated, holding any of the six postures they have learnt for as long of a duration as they choose.
Students will learn warm-up and cool-down exercises and static postures to enhance strength and well-being.
Regular daily practice for no less than five minutes of Zhan Zhuang is recommended.
Students are observed by the tutor during lessons in which feedback is given.
Students wanting to develop their Zhan Zhuang may repeat this course and/or join the Lam Association and/or attend classes or private tutorials with approved instructors.
It is advised students bring bottled water and wear loose-fitting clothes. Flat shoes with flexible soles are recommended.
Ask at reception if you have any special or additional needs. You can also discuss any physical issues with the tutor.
