Programme managerLjiljana Colakljiljana.colak@lbhf.gov.uk ESOL courses are designed for people resident or settled in the UK and for whom English is not their first language. They are available at all levels, from pre-entry (absolute beginners) to level 2 (advanced). Their aim is to develop your speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar and study skills so that you can cope with everyday life in the UK, progress to a vocational or academic course and improve your employment prospects. Your tutor will support you throughout your course, monitor and assess your progress and prepare you for a nationally recognised qualification in ESOL. Progression opportunities
All courses will require an interview before you can enrol. To make an appointment please call 0845 839 7912. |
Your tutor will guide you, but independent information, advice and guidance (IAG) is also available throughout the year to help you to make the right choices about your future. We will assess your speaking, listening, reading and writing skills before we place you in the most appropriate class, tailored to your level of language skills. ESOL courses are free if you are resident or settled in the UK and are in receipt of means-tested benefit or earning less than £15,276 per year and are in receipt of family tax credit. A registration fee of £20 per year is payable in such cases. If you or your partner are earning more than £15,276 per year, a fee for your ESOL course will apply. Please phone the course information line on 0845 839 7912 for details on fees and what means-tested evidence is acceptable for the ESOL courses, and to book an interview. |
