| This course offers training in the interpreting and translating skills needed for the DPSI exam (June 2011) run by the IoL Educational Trust. It covers the development of the language of legislation and regulations for equal access to public services irrespective of language and culture. There will be a mixture of lectures on various aspects of the legal system and legal concepts for those doing DPSI Law and and practical work on interpreting and translation techniques (especially in term 1). Starting in term 2 there will also be language support sessions into your chosen language every other week on Monday afternoon / evening (Law) and Friday (Health). People whose language(s) we do not cover can apply for this course but, please note, we will not be in a position to offer any extra language support and learners will have to work on their own or with other native speakers of the same language.
