An interpreting student on the Diploma in Police Interpreting (DPI) course, Laura Pistininzi, from the adult learning and skills service in Hammersmith & Fulham has won a special national award with the Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIOL).
The award marks Laura's achievement as the best DPI candidate in the country with her results of two distinctions and three merits.
CIOL patron HRH Prince Michael of Kent presented the prestigious awards to winning candidates at The Law Society on Wednesday 20 November.
Laura Pistininzi, who is a translator and interpreter of Italian, English and German says:
"I am absolutely thrilled to win the award!" and went on to talk about her experience studying at the Macbeth Centre.
"The course has been an excellent guidance through the exam units, from both a theoretical and practical perspective. It has given me the opportunity to explore a new field to work in and it's a starting point for me to consider sitting also the exam DPSI (Diploma in Public Service Interpreting) in Law next year."
Students, like Laura, on the interpreting courses have gone on to study further in this field, establishing successful careers in the police, court service and wider legal system.
